Three of us, with over 45 years of fishing experience together, decided to revisit Port Mansfield, a trip we had taken many times in the past, albeit after several years. Unfortunately, luck wasn't entirely on our side as a significant front rolled in. The first day was a washout despite Ruben's efforts to find fishable waters. We returned to shore safely. However, the following day proved fruitful, with limits of reds and a few trout. Our final day was challenging due to post-frontal conditions, but that's the nature of fishing on the lower Laguna Madre. Overall, we had a fantastic time. Ruben proved to be an excellent guide who puts in hard work. We're already planning to book him again next year if he'll have us. Despite a slower last day, we did manage to land a 22-inch speckled trout, which unfortunately had to be released back into the water due to new fishing regulations. That's fishing for you.
